Christina Aguilera’s debut movie Burlesque has taken a pounding from the anti-Oscars. The Golden Raspberry Awards - or Razzies for short - honour the worst films and actors every year, and dish out their trophies just before the Oscars hold their annual backslapping shindig.
Unfortunately for Xtina, Burlesque leads the way with an impressive (or not) six nominations. Christina picked up a worst actress nod, while worst support actress nominations go to her co-stars Cher and Kristen Bell, as well as a worst supporting actor nom to Cam Gigandet. The film is also in the running for worst screen play and worst director. It avoided a worst film nomination that, honour has gone to The Bounty Hunter, Clash of the Titans, The Expendables, Grown-ups, Johan Hex, Killers, The Last Airbender, Little Fockers, Sex and the City 2, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Vampires Suck, and Yogi Bear.
Seeing as the Golden Globes honoured Burlesque with a nomination in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, perhaps the guys at Razzies HQ have been a little harsh on Christina, Cher, Kristen and Cam.
Have you seen Burlesque? Do you think the film and the cast deserve so many Razzie nominations, or did you think Burlesque was a bit of OTT camp fun?
The full list of Golden Razzie nominations will be out on 24 January.
