The Oscars: who the bookies think will win

The Oscars: who the bookies think will win

It’s nearly Oscars time! Officially the biggest event during awards season, everyone who’s anyone (and Katie Price) will be dusting down tuxes or squeezing into gorgeous designer gowns for the ceremony this Sunday.

While our main concern is obviously with the fashion (we’ll of course have a gallery for you on Monday), we are interested to see who’ll be heading home with a little gold statue. Will Colin Firth and Natalie Portman continue their run of winning every gong going? The bookies certainly seem to think so.

Have a look at the bookie’s favourites for the major categories – then give us your say on who YOU think will win this weekend

Jadey you would actually get £70 back if you bet £60 £10 winnings and your original bet

Odds... I am no expert but it is a ratio - what you bet vs. what they pay. So 1/6 for King's SPeech... For each £6 you bet, you'll make £1 from bookie. So you bet £60 and get £66 back (£6 win + original bet). An "outsider" at 200/1 means if you bet £1 and film wins, you get £200 from bookie (so £201 in total). Long odds (like 200/1) basically means it hasn't a hope in hell of winning and you're just chucking money away.

I dont understand them either Sweet. I loved the Kings Speech and Colin Firth was amazing in it but seen True Grit at the weekend and its just stunning. Really loved it, peed all over this Black Swan rubbish. The acting was superb so really hope it gets some recognition.
