She might have made her name playing sappy girly types but it seems that behind that toothy grin Anne Hathaway is actually a bit of a hard nut. A stuntman on the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, felt the full of force of her unexpected brute strength when she, “got a bit carried away during a fight scene and mistakenly shoved the butt of the gun right into the actor’s eye”. The poor guy was left nursing a black eye, not to mention a bruised ego after being beaten up by the girl from the Princess Diaries.
After fighting off (we hope not literally) competition from Sienna Miller and Kate Beckinsale, Anne won the legendary Catwoman role in Christopher Nolan’s new film. We know that she likes to consider herself a very serious actress these days but we think she might be taking the whole Method thing a bit too far!
She’s not made of steel though. To make up for embarrassing him in front of all his cool film mates, she bought the battered action man a silver pen – because stuntmen are notorious for their love of fine stationary – which read, ‘Remember no one packs a punch like Anne’. Oh, you witty devil Anne, maybe you should have gone for the role of the Joker instead…
As it happens, we’re incredibly excited about The Dark Knight Rises, which comes out next summer. Yes the first two were amazing, yes we get to see Miss Hathaway being a bad-ass, but most importantly, this one also stars the one and only Tom Hardy, who is beefing up as we speak to play the dastardly villain Bane. And we will ALWAYS be excited about anything that involves Tom Hardy. Our loins are a-burning at the thought!
