Inbetweeners writer Damon Beesley has come out and categorically said that The Inbetweeners Movie will mark the end of the series. Yep, not even a squeak of a Christmas special. You might think he is being stingy, refusing to deliver us with more adventures of Will and co. But he reckons it just wouldn’t be the same if the guys went to uni. Speaking to Empire he said:
"When you go to university, it's a different period of your life and you have to start thinking more carefully about your impact on the world around you," We don’t know, from what we remember we basically just didn’t think about alcohol units for three years, maths like that would be scary.
The Inbetweeners wouldn't work at any other age
He went on, saying the reason Inbetweeners was so great (and oh how it was) and why the movie works so well is down to catching them at just the right age: "Here they're at this glorious age where they do what they like and no-one picks them up on it. They go out into the big, wide, real world, learn some lessons on the way and do a bit of growing up. This is the final piece of the jigsaw."
We suppose he has a good point, and there is nothing worse than a TV series dragging on. At least this way Inbetweeners will go out with a bang. But we will still be sad to see it end, it really is one of the funniest things on TV, right? At least we have Fresh Meat to look forward to.
