We’re still getting our breath back from last night’s magical Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 premiere. If you haven’t caught up with the dresses or the gossip, you really must.
We’re also slightly stunned by some comments from JK Rowling, who once again teased fans about the possibility of more Harry Potter novels (or at least books based on the world of Harry Potter). “Never say never,” admitted the author, “It is my baby and if I want to bring it out to play again I will.”
While we’d love JK to write more novels set in the world of wizards and Quidditch and potions, this is not the first time that she’s got everyone’s hopes by talking about the possibility of writing more Harry Potter books. In November last year, she said to chat show queen Oprah Winfrey that she could “definitely write an eighth, ninth [and] tenth book. I feel I’m done, but you never know. I love writing them.”
However, it’s not clear if JK will write another novel with Harry as the central character “If in ten years time I wanted to do another one I probably would,” revealed Rowling, “However, I said to Dan [Radcliffe] I don't think there will ever be another book with Harry as the central character. So Dan can sleep easy.”
While JK is being very vague about more Potter books, those close to her, and the Harry Potter franchise, seem certain that if she does write more books, they won’t actually feature Harry.
HP producer David said at a recent press conference, "There may be other stories. She may write things that are connected to Harry Potter. She's doing Pottermore, the website. I don't see her... She's not going to write another book on Harry Potter, like Harry at age 23 at business school."
So from all this we can conclude that JK Rowling might, maybe, one day decide to revisit Harry Potter’s universe, but she probably won’t write about Harry as the main character.
Now, aren’t you glad we cleared that all up for you?
