We do love a good animated movie. So, imagine our surprise when we found out that some of our favourite stars will be appearing in a 3D film version of the TV show we grew up on; Postman Pat!
David Tennant, Jim Broadbent and Rupert Grint are just some of the actors signed up to star in the film which begins production this month. Our favourite Postie will be voiced by Green Wing star and funny man Stephen Mangan. Stephen was delighted to hear that he would be providing the voice for the famous postman, saying,
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be playing the world's best-known postman in his big screen debut - he's an iconic British hero and it's a great script. However when I excitedly told my three-year-old son that I was going to be Postman Pat, he said, 'No you're not, dad, don't be silly'."
The announcement that the film would be made came on the show's 30th Birthday. We’re not sure who Rupert will be playing, but as our second favourite Harry Potter hotty (behind Neville Longbottom) we’re just glad he’s involved! The actor says,
“Postman Pat is one of those British symbols – you are totally familiar with him even if you’ve never watched it.” Wise words Grinty.
All that we’ve heard so far is that the film involves Pat entering a TV talent show competition, it all sounds very X Factor-esque! However, we’ll have to wait until 2013 before we can watch Postman Pat and his black and white cat on the big screen.
