Are you a Twilight fan? Do you like musicals? Most importantly of all, will you be in New York on 16 January? If you answered yes to all these questions you’ll be excited to hear that a Twilight musical is being staged in the Big Apple!
Just imagine a sullen Edward Cullen bursting into song, or Jacob busting out some contemporary dance moves as he transforms into a werewolf! It’s almost too brilliant! The only way we’d love this more is if Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart decided to star in it for a laugh.
Sadly, Twilight: The Musical is just a one off at the moment (we plan to start a campaign to get it staged over here), but here’s what the official website says about the production…
Twilight: The Musical is a parody of the Twilight saga in the vein of Urinetown and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Twilight: The Musical examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen.
Twilight: The Musical was created by Ashley Griffin, and features a book by Ashley Griffin, with music and lyrics by Jeremy Ezell, Ashley Griffin, Sean Mahoney, David Mallamud, and Michael Sutherland. The show had its first workshop in NYC in 2010 at the LABA theater, and is currently in development in NYC.
A one-night only concert reading presentation of the parody Twilight: The Musical is being presented by Liz Ulmer, Moxyrah Productions, and Dreamcatcher Entertainment, January 16th, 2012 at 8pm to benefit national charity organization Blessings in a Backpack. The concert will be directed by Gabriel Barre, and presented at New World Stages. Casting to be announced shortly.
All proceeds will benefit Blessings in a Backpack.
New World Stages is located in Manhattan at 340 West 50th Street, New York, NY 10019. Tickets are available by visiting telecharge.com
