heatworld has officially gone deaf! We have just this second come out of the first Spice Girls reunion show in Vancouver and the screams are still ringing in our ears. But if we have to start wearing a hearing aid from now on, it was worth it. The show abso-stonking-lutely rocked! From the second Posh and co emerged from elevating platforms in the centre of the stage, the crowd went berserk. Spice fever is back with a bang – and just like Cruz Beckham's chickenpox, it's highly contagious. The girls not only looked in super-toned form (especially Mel B who told heatworld earlier she did 100 sit-ups before going on stage) they couldn't stop smiling or hugging each other and were clearly relishing every minute of being back together on stage. At one point Geri mouthed to Mel B "I can't believe we're up here again!" and grabbed her round the waist. And if anyone (including us) had their fears about Posh appearing out of place – it was like she'd rediscovered her purpose in life and was suddenly back where she belonged. The set list sparkled nearly as much as the Cavalli outifts (our favourite of which was the nod to the original Spice garb – except this time Geri's Union Jack dress was dripping with expensive crystals, Mel C's tracksuit was trimmed with bling and Mel B's skin-tight leopard print number probably cost more than heatworld's house.) Highlights were Mama (which actually brought a little tear to heatworld's eye – the girls could hardly contain their emotion, stopping for a group-hug at the end), the super-charged Who Do You Think You Are, Geri's solo of It's Raining Men and the amazing Wannabe encore. No lowlights, just a couple of odd bits: Mel B's solo of Are You Gonna Go My Way resulting in her grabbing a poor fella from the crowd, strapping him in a funny torture device then whipping and dry-humping him, also Posh refusing to do a solo like the others, but pouting and posing for fake paparazzi instead. Maybe it's because Becks was in the crowd watching and she was embarrassed or something (we can confirm he flew in especially as heatworld saw him earlier in the day giving his wife a little kiss and asking her if she wanted him to bring her a drink).
Look away now if you don't want to see the set list: Spice Up Your Life, Stop, Say You'll be There, Headlines, Lady is A Vamp, Too Much, Two Become One, Are You Gonna Go My Way (Mel B), Maybe (Emma), Viva Forever, Holler, It's Raining Men (Geri), I Turn To You (Mel C), Let Love Lead The Way, Mama, Celebration medley, If You Can't Dance, Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life.
