Her shoes have got more holes in them than a Hollyoaks storyline, her hair houses several rare birds and she wears underwear as outerwear at 4am – but, according to fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld, Amy Winehouse is one of the most stylish woman in the world. “She’s a style icon,” insists the snowy-haired designer. “She is a beautiful, gifted artist. And I very much like her hairdo. I took it as an inspiration. Because, in fact, it was also Brigitte Bardot’s hairdo in the late 50s and 60s. And now Amy has made it her own style. So, when I saw her, I knew it was the right moment. Amy is the new Brigitte.” In fact, Karl is so taken with Amy that he’s even based his new fashion line on her – so look out for some blood-stained, mysteriously powdery jeans coming to a boutique near you soon. Now we don’t want to be mean to Karl, because he’s getting on a bit and his eyesight probably isn’t quite what it used to be, but has he gone completely out of his mind? And, without wishing to sound all parenty, is this really a good message to be sending out? Next he’ll be telling us we should all start basing our look on Britney Spears….
