When heatworld got up this morning, ambulances were just arriving at Britney’s house in Los Angeles, where it was still the middle of the night. Since then, we’ve been gripped by one of her most dramatic days yet – and we’re hoping that she might have actually turned a corner. The whole story has been pretty confusing, so here’s a round-up of what’s been going on.
*For the past few days, the people closest to Britney (including her parents, Jamie and Lynne, her supposed boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, and her manager and friend Sam Lutfi) have been orchestrating a plan to get her back into hospital to deal with her mental health.
*Late last night, Britney’s psychiatrist arrived at her home in Hollywood, concerned that Britney was now a danger to others, due to her reckless driving and “downhill behaviour.” She'd even been spotted "talking to trees".
* The psychiatrist called for an ambulance and the plan went into motion. While they waited, Britney made herself a hot chocolate and seemed confused by all the fuss.
* Britney was then taken to the UCLA medical centre, with the ambulance taking a pre-determined route and surrounded by a line of emergency vehicles said to be as long as a football field. Britney’s family, plus Sam Lutfi, drove behind, and were later seen arguing in a hospital corridor.
*Britney was admitted to hospital and a judge signed a "5150" order – the official term for a sectioning. This lasts for three days but can be extended to up to 14.
*Britney’s mum Lynne spent the night at the hospital, while Jamie Spears and Sam Lutfi left in the early hours of this morning.
*Britney was said to be in good spirits, and even made jokes and went for a cigarette during a break in her mental evalulation.
*It’s now around 9am in Los Angeles and Britney’s friends and family have left her alone with medical staff as she faces a new day.
