Yesterday, we revealed that Delta Goodrem’s dad had banned his daughter from marrying Brian McFadden due to his heavy smoking habit. In case you need reminding, Brian himself said “He gave me 'the dad speech' and said I could wed Delta but there was one condition – 'You can't marry her unless you stop smoking'." I said I would, but not for a while. I'll have to push back the wedding until I do it.” But now the couple, who got engaged in November, have obviously realised the comment didn’t exactly put Brian in the best light, as a spokesperson for Delta has done some extremely hasty backtracking. “Yes, Brian and Delta's father Dennis did discuss the need for him to cut down on his smoking,” they say. “But that's not the reason they haven't set a date for the wedding yet and it's looking more likely to be next year. It's due to the fact their careers are occupying most of their time in 2008.” Um, we don’t mean to be rude but… what? Does Brian think that being quite good at Championship Manager counts as a real job now or something?
