As we revealed this morning, sources in the US are claiming that Leona Lewis has employed Mariah Carey’s personal trainer to help her get in shape. According to reports in the tabloids, Leona’s American team reckon she’ll do a lot better over there (she’s already had a number one album and single, what more do they want? Is she going to run for president?) if she transforms her body so that she can wear short skirts in photoshoots. We were flabbergasted by the story, and it turns out Leona was too – she says she has no intention of employing the trainer in question, Patricia May. In fact, we’ve just spoken to Leona’s people, and they reckon the story may have originated from Patricia’s camp, to drum up some publicity for her work. But it’s all backfired spectacularly, as Leona is happy just the way she is and has no intention of, as the story claimed, jetting to the Caribbean for intensive work-out sessions. Can’t say we blame her – if we jetted to the Caribbean, we’d mostly just lie down and drink pina coladas…
Update: Leona's people have now put out an official statement regarding the story: “This morning a tabloid newspaper published a story claiming that Leona is working with Mariah Carey's personal trainer Patricia Gay. There is no truth to this story. The story also claims that this was suggested by 'her advisers' and that Leona would visit Patricia's base in the Caribbean for intensive sessions. This is entirely fabricated. Leona currently does work with a personal trainer who helps her to stay healthy and find time for exercise amidst her demanding international promotional schedule. The decision to work with a personal trainer is entirely Leona's.”
