It’s the rumour that just won’t die – assorted gossip-mongers in the US reckon that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant and that’s why she really announced her engagement to Pete Wentz last week…but the couple say it’s not true. In fact, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete is so keen to deny the rumours that he’s personally e-mailed MTV to set the record straight. “There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood,” he wrote. "This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. I mean really, this is crazy. I mean, we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it.” But, if you read between the lines, there’s no actual denial there. A spokesperson for the couple has added fuel to the fire by saying "We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple. Beyond that there is nothing to add.” If Ashlee is pregnant, we doubt she’ll be making it public any time soon, as she’s still looking teeny and clearly not very far along. So, er, that's that cleared up then, yeah?
