Pete Doherty was released from prison this morning – serving just 29 days of his 14-week sentence. The Babyshambles front man, greeted by a throng of paparazzi, thanked ex Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, saying, "Thank you Mrs Thatcher for putting me in the company of the most dangerous criminals in the country." Pete was put behind bars after he was handed a four-month suspended jail sentence in October for possessing crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis, and was finally put in prison earlier this year after being late and missing probation appointments. The singer used a photographer's phone to call for someone to come and pick him up and described his experience inside as "a lot of gangsters and Radio 4". He went on to say, "I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, with the overcrowding and the medical facilities, although they do their best – they are good. They can't really cater for the average junkie..." Pete, who smoked a cigarette as he left Wormwood scrubs prison, also showed waiting media his notebook of doodles and scribbles claiming he had kept a diary each day and even produced a certificate to confirm he had passed a drug test while inside. Will wonders never cease?
Pete's been let out!
