Cheryl Cole mania isn’t letting up – she’s now up there with the Mona Lisa and, er, the bloke with the baby in that Athena poster, as her X Factor tears have been immortalised forever in a new painting. Artist Lee Jones has decided to depict Cheryl as the Angel of the North – and here’s why: “As an artist I feel the overwhelming warmth of the northern people towards Cheryl Cole and I wanted to portray this by depicting her as our very own Angel of the North,” he says. “I see her as a new icon of popular culture for the 21st century, a beacon of light in these bleak times – a fine example of a northern lass making good.” Blimey. The painting will be exhibited in London in February – so, if you’re very rich, you might even be able to buy it and have Cheryl looming over you at all times (we have Cheryl looming over us anyway – thanks to a genius on our art desk, she’s the fairy on the heat Towers Christmas tree!).
Cheryl's a painting!
