It feels like we've been going on about it for ages, but finally, last night, Britney: For The Record aired on Sky1. It’s the first we’ve seen of the ‘real Britney’ for quite a while (her odd conversation with Dermot on Saturday’s X Factor doesn’t’ count) and it made for some shocking viewing. The singer broke down in tears when discussing how she felt about her life, saying that she's "lonely" and feels "sad". As well as the more emotional moments, we were also treated to scenes of Brit larking around with her family and being a mum to her two cute little boys. Even Madonna was in it – and told the cameras that Britney brings out her "maternal side". Wow! We've never seen Madge in full mummy mode before, but we can totally see where she's coming from. All we wanted to do after watching the documentary was find Britney and give her a huge hug. It really does seem as if dad Jamie, along with her manager Larry Rudolph, are the ones really in charge of poor Britters now, and Brit herself admitted that her life is "controlled by doctors and lawyers", admitting that to be free of that is her dream. Could the Britney we saw last night go some way to explaining why her performance on Saturday's X Factor wasn’t so good? And, let's not forget, the poor thing was in the midst of her breakdown just ten months ago. Are we simply expecting too much too soon from the star? She’s just announced the first tour dates in North America for March and April next year, and she’s scheduled some London dates in June (yay!) – let’s hope she’s back to her old self by then.
