Yesterday, we brought you the news that Take That were thrashing Britney in the midweek album charts and indeed, that’s still the case (incidentally, The Killers are ahead of her too, although Britney’s people tell us it is her biggest first week in the UK ever – she’s actually never had a Number One album here!). But it’s a different story in the singles chart – Take That look certain to be knocked off Number One this week by a certain Ms Leona Lewis. Her cover of Snow Patrol’s Run – which was originally never even going to be properly released – is selling by the shedload! In just a couple of days, Run has sold well over three times more units than Greatest Day. Wowzers. Do you like her version of the song, or do you think it’s first-degree murder? Do tell. There’s some other interesting chart news too – although it’s fair to say Britney’s X Factor appearance was luke-warm, it’s obviously had the desired effect. Womanizer is steadily climbing and is at number three in the midweeks (it was only number seven in last week’s chart) and is actually only a couple of thousand copies behind Take That. So, girl power all round then – it’s like 1996 all over again!
