Kelly Clarkson was once the queen of pop. And then she went all serious and angsty for her last album, which broke the hearts of millions of pop fans across the globe. Including heatworld’s. While we didn’t think My December was really our cup of tea after the fabulousness of the pop opus that was Breakaway, to say we’re delighted by Kel’s return would be a complete understatement. We are obsessed with her new song My Life Would Suck Without You, and it hasn’t been off our iPod since we got our hands on the mp3 at the weekend – and it looks like the rest of the world is obsessed too. Little Kel’s only gone and broken a download record in the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the US – the song has jumped from number 97 to number one in it’s first week of release – 280,000 downloads, fact fans. Britney previously held the record for biggest ever jump to number one when Womanizer jumped from 96, but now she’s handed that accolade to Kelly. Hurrah. Saying that, it must be noted Kelly does sound a lot like Diana X Factor when she sings the word “you” in the second verse of the song. It’s all a bit “chew”. But never mind. It’s Our Favourite Pop Tune Of Recent Times, and the video’s a bit ace too (Kelly frolicking with a man friend, throwing his clothes out the window, singing in front of very bright lights etc etc) – so you should really watch it to experience the wonder of it all. It’s great to have you back, Kel. Yay etc.
We LOVE this song!
