We don't know about you, but if we were a 71-year-old and someone as young, hot and talented as Beyonce wanted to play us in a film, we'd be pretty chuffed about it. For legendary singer Etta James, however, this is not something she's taken kindly to – and she doesn't care who knows it. Beyonce played the part of a young Etta in last year's movie Cadillac Records, and just last month she performed the diva's famous song At Last at President Barack Obama's inauguration. However, rather than being flattered and proud, Etta says she found the performance extremely irritating. During a recent show in Seattle, the singer let rip to her captive audience, saying, "That woman he [Barack] had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whooped… The great Beyonce – but I can’t stand Beyonce. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ President day – singing my song that I’ve been singing forever." The rant prompted huge cheers from the crowd, but the diva has since backtracked slightly. "I didn’t really mean anything," she says. "I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude and it was funny. The jokes weren't vicious." However, she refused to say she'd been impressed by Beyonce's version of "her" classic song, saying she could've done "a better job". We suppose we can kind of see it from Etta's point of view, but someone should tell her At Last isn't actually "her" song at all. Glenn Miller was the first to record it back in 1941, and then Nat King Cole did a version in 1957. Have a listen to Etta's rant below and tell us your views. It is rather amusing.
