Sophie Ellis Bextor’s second child has come along nine weeks premature, after the singer once again suffered from pre-eclampsia, a dangerous medical condition which happens to some women during pregnancy. The baby boy, who is rumoured to be called Valentine, weighed just 2lb 10oz – but Sophie’s mum, former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis, says everyone’s doing fine. Sophie’s first son, Sonny, also came into the world via emergency caesarean after the singer suffered from pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy. “Sophie's just had her second little boy,” says Janet. “He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well.” We’re glad to hear Sophie and Valentine, if that is his real name, are in good health – congratulations to Sophie and her husband Richard, officially one of the cutest families in music-dom.
