Sarah Harding’s dad has come forward to beg his famous daughter to make contact – but says he’s not interested in her fame or money. Sarah hasn’t spoken to John Hardman for eight years, after he and her mum Marie split, and he’s now come forward to say he’s desperate to make up with the Girls Aloud star. “Some people seem to think that the only reason I have tried to make contact is because she’s famous,” says John, who was the guitarist in '70s one-hit-wonders Sunfighter. “I don’t want her money. I want nothing but a connection with my daughter.” John’s relationship with Sarah broke down when she was 18 and just starting out as a singer but, after numerous attempts to make contact were rejected, he’s gone public with his sadness. “All I want is one meeting with my daughter,” he says, adding that he was “heartbroken” when Sarah changed her surname. “If she then decides that she wants nothing more to do with me, then I’ll walk away and leave her, however hard it would be. At the end of the day I’m her dad and I love my daughter. I feel excluded from her life, I just want to see her and have a reasonable relationship. I sometimes think I should just give up trying to reach her, but it’s so hard when it’s your flesh and blood out there.” Since we all know that Sarah’s one feisty girl, it’s hard to say whether she’ll be appalled or touched by John’s decision to speak out publicly. Still, at least he didn’t go on Jeremy Kyle.
