An emotional Madonna broke down on stage last night as she paid tribute to two men who were killed as they prepared a stadium for her upcoming show. It is thought that a crane collapsed at the Marseille Velodrome, killing two men and injuring others. The victims included a 53-year-old Frenchman and a 22-year-old Brit, who Madonna later referred to as the "two Charlies". Addressing the crowd at the Fruili Stadium in Udine, northern Italy, Madonna said slowly that she wanted to acknowledge and pay tribute to the two men, breaking into sobs as she declared, "I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families. Let's take a moment to appreciate our family, loved ones, friends around us." She then went on to cry all the way through her performance of You Must Love Me.
