Backstage at the 2011 Brit Awards at the O2 in London, heat managed to get hold of soul singer Jessie J right after she won The Critics Choice Award.
“It felt like a dream… Being number one for the second week, winning an award at The Brits, having Justin Bieber say that he’s a fan, dancing to Rihanna…I’m a bit like – is this real?”
The Critics Choice Award has been won in the past by several huge names including Ellie Goulding, Florence and the Machine and Adele.
We also tried to get a bit of insight into her upcoming album, ‘Who You Are’ “Do you know what I love about the album? I’ve written it over such a long period of time…it really represents me going from a young person to a young adult and it’s very honesty. It’s kind of a raw insight into how I saw the world.
“I’m really proud of it. I’ve felt like I’ve spent years wrapping it up and now I can give it to the world to open.”
Jessie’s tour, which starts on March 31st in Glasgow, sold out in less than four hours.
It’s not all making albums, organizing tours and accepting awards, though.
“I went shopping the other day and spent £600 on bags, and the company cut me off because they thought somebody had stolen my card! That’s how little money I get – I can never treat myself.”
With the exception of possible fraudulent behaviour, Jessie assures us “It’s all good” and then tells us which artist she’s love to collaborate with the most.
“It has to be Rihanna. I’m slightly obsessed with her.”
Well Jessie, after Cheryl Cole’s admittance to having a ‘girl crush’ on the R&B star, it looks like you have some competition!
