V festival is one of the biggest music events of the summer and people pay big money to see the stars perform. And the line up is never a disappointment, with this year’s being no exception.
R&B star Rihanna, rap sensation Eminem, indie rock band Arctic Monkeys and rapper Plan B will all be headlining this summer’s event, which is due to take place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of August.
Other bands due to take to the stage will be The Script, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Manic Street Preachers, Chase and Status, Scouting for Girls, Razorlight, Ellie Goulding… Well you get the picture. There’s a lot of them, and they’re all utterly incredible.
The big show will be happening at two venues – Hylands Park just outside of Chelmesford and Weston Park in Weston-under-lizard (awesome name!), which is just outside of Birmingham.
For those not in the know, V Festival is an annual music festival held one weekend at the end of August.
The event is held at two parks simultaneously, which share the same line-up; artists perform at one venue on Saturday and then swap on Sunday.
The idea for V Festival came in 1996 when Pulp's front man Jarvis Cocker announced he would love to play two outdoor venues in two days.
The band’s promoters got together and came up with the idea of putting the gig into two different parks so that fans in both the North and South would get a chance to see the band.
Then came the idea of adding more bands to the line up, putting on a second stage and letting people camp for the weekend. The rest, as they say, is history…
