It was the annual Ivor Novello Awards today. The ‘Ivors’, as those in the know say, are posh awards for proper serious songwriters who have zero no time for Jedward or lip-syncers (NB: the two are mutually exclusive, as anyone who watched Eurovision would know) and plenty of time for jamming and double clefs.
So Plan B, who you may notice from our pic was just THRILLED to be there, went home with an amazing three awards: Most Performed Work for She Said, Best Album for The Defamation Of Strickland Banks and the big one for Songwriter Of The Year. So it is now official: he is PROPER good and we can listen to him in the car with pride.
Tinie Tempah also was awarded for Pass Out. Good choice. We like to put that on sometimes when we are feeling particularly cool, we totes know all the words.
Plus now we know more than ever before we can trust the Ivors, any awards ceremonies which reward fitties like Plan B and Tinie obviously knows a thing or two about the old moooozak.
