It’s basically the campest, most fun night of TV viewing every year; and last night’s 2011 Eurovision Song Contest was no exception.
We had miles and miles of satin frocks and frills, strange gnome-style pointy hats, sand art, Jedward’s GaGa-influenced glittery jackets, and of course plenty of weird and wonderful songs from countries across Europe.
In the end the Blue boys Duncan James, Antony Costa, Simon Webbe and Lee Ryan didn’t wow enough to win it (although we reckon they did the UK proud), but they scored an impressive 100 points and ended up in 11th place. However E-number powered twins John and Edward Grimes did a little better as the entrants for Ireland, they scored 119 points to finish up in 8th place on the leader board.
But it was Azerbaijan who took home the crystal microphone trophy at the end of the night with their song Running Scared sung by Ell and Nikki. Do you think Azerbaijan deserved to win last night, or did your favourite miss out on the grand prize?
