We've all been there - dancing along to Pray at a Take That gig, with a pint of cider in our hand. But it sounds like Take That fans in Manchester have been giving stewards at Manchester City Stadium a real run for their money with their drunken antics. So much so that they’ve made the national news!
According to The Sun more than 100 fans were admitted to hospital after brawls, passing out, theft and such like following too much booze. And most of them were in their 30s and 40s. In fact, when we were up in Manchester a couple of weeks ago to see the boys’ amazing show, we did spot a few ladies, beer in hand, being stretchered out of the venue. And there was a girl behind us who couldn’t help but scream at the top of her lungs every few seconds – she later apologised and told us she’d been gearing up the drinks for four hours beforehand – which, frankly, explained it.
A steward at the venue told The Sun, "I've worked at lots of concerts and some of the drunkenness here was unbelievable. Some women were slumped in their seats barely able to walk. It was way worse than a football game."
Thankfully, the Take That boys didn't see any of the naughtiness going on in the crowds and continued to entertain the not-so-drunk masses as usual, as well as some very special guests like the X Factor judges and crew on Sunday night. Phew! We think we’d be mortified if Take That saw us even a little bit tipsy, let alone as hammered as this lot. Actually, now we come to think of it, we’re pretty sure Howard Donald made a comment about our wine consumption once… whoops!
