While hanging out at the Jingle Bell Ball this weekend, we were given the opportunity to chat to a lot of people. We got smooches from One Direction, had a bit of banter with JLS, developed a crush on Labrinth and got serenaded by Jessie J. Everyone was up for a good old natter – and quite a few times they were dragged away because they were babbling away far too much. But there was one man who was keeping very schtum about his life – and that was Mr Calvin Harris.
The DJ appeared before us (looking pretty good, we might add) on Saturday night just before heading off on stage to entertain the masses, but despite being popping down to our little press room to give us a little hello, he just wasn’t in the mood to say much more.
When asked who Calvin would or would not like to collaborate with in the future, he gave us all the vague answer of, “Yeah, loads [of people]”. Cue awkward silence and everyone waiting for him to elaborate. He didn’t. And when questioned about his defining moment in his career he simply said, “There have been loads of moments”.
Suffice to say, he’s a man of very few words.
Of course, we threw some Christmas questions at him too - after all, it is the season to be jolly. But that failed to get the man in the mood for talking as well and in the end we realised that we’d learned nothing new about the We Found Love DJ.
Oh well, at least he got the crowd going when he headed on stage to pull out some classic Harris hits such as Ready For The Weekend and I’m Not Alone, but by that time we’d been distracted by the likes of The Wanted actually talking to us. Never mind!
