Never work with children or animals. That’s basically the first rule of entertainment, right? After all, it’s called show business, not show friends, as Antony Cotton reminded us (er, yeah… thanks Ant). It seems celeb-world chucked the rule-book out the window this year though, with its surprise stars being two little girls who look like they’ve raided the fancy dress box.
If you haven’t seen 8-year-old Sophia Grace Brownlee’s rendition of Superbass by Nicki Minaj, where on earth have you been? It all started with a video of Essex girl Sophia and her 5-year-old cousin Rosie on YouTube, strutting their stuff in Pink princess outfits back in September. Within weeks though, the pair were flown out to the States to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres’s show.
Things have gone up and up for the wannabe pop stars, with the girls even getting to meet their idol Nicki and duet with her. Imagine finding One Direction, Take That and McFly in your stocking this Christmas and you’ll get somewhere near their hysterical reaction.
Since then, the pair have been all over our TV screens from guest spots on Lorraine, to the Xtra Factor. They even landed the best job in presenting, as backstage reporters at the X Factor, meeting the likes of JLS and Gary Barlow. Jealous, us? With over 36 million views on their YouTube channel and interviews with Rihanna under their sparkly Pink belts, we’re guessing 2011 is just the beginning for the cutest girls in pop (sorry Little Mix).
