We bet Paul McCartney came across all triumphant yesterday, as he became the final Beatle to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Paul’s star sits quite fittingly outside of the Capitol Records building, alongside the stars belonging to his former band members George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr.
Paul made the trip out to Los Angeles yesterday (thanks for the invite) and greeted hundreds of fans who’d gathered to see him stick his musical fingers into the ground. Upon receiving the star, Paul said,
"In Liverpool, when we were kids and listening to Buddy Holly and all the other rock and roll greats, I would have never thought the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Walk of Fame.”
Ringo couldn’t make the trip out to LA due to illness, but Paul still honoured his fellow band mates for all of their support during their time together. Paul continued,
”I thought it was an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today. I couldn't have done it without a certain three boys, so I want to say thanks to those guys, John, George and Ringo."
Paul has just been named MusiCare’s 2012 ‘Person of the Year’ and will performing at an event tonight and again at this weekend’s Grammy Awards in celebration. However, in true fashion, the singer couldn’t leave LA without thanking his fans, saying,
"Thanks to all of you, to all the fans around the world, I'd like to send you hugs and kisses on the bottom,"
Well Paul, that’s not a bad start to 2012!
