Nicki Minaj has released a new song. The singer is riding high on a wave of hype - not only did she perform alongside Madonna at last week’s Superbowl half-time show, but she turned up to the Grammys with the Pope. Not the actual Pope, but a man who looked a LOT like the Pope. And was dressed as the Pope. That, along with all the religious imagery her performance of The Exorcism of Roman, angered some Catholic groups.
Striking while the iron's still hot, she's released Starships. This summery track wouldn’t sound entirely out of place on a Katy Perry album, and features a chorus about dancing on a dance floor and wanting more on the dancefloor. It starts off as a peppy track. In fact, it’s peppy enough to make us forget it’s dull old February outside. Then it suddenly ‘drops’ into a very filthy, hectic dance thumper.
