Top Music Buzz Story – Cheryl On The Voice
There are many incidents and moments that Cheryl will forever be judged by. One of them is that triumphant X Factor performance of Fight For This Love. Now, almost three years later, she’s managed to equal it, and, maybe even top it. Appearing on The Voice UK on Saturday for the debut performance of her epic new pop-belter Call My Name, Cheryl once again proved why, when she’s on form, she’s at the top of her game. Kicking off with the daredevil swan-dive and then launching into non-stop, break-neck dance moves that put Britney-Spears-Circa-1999 to shame. On point, having fun and even smiling – who cares if it might have been mimed.
Hot Music Vid – Maroon 5 – PayPhone
Adam Levine and his fellow Maroon 5 band mates had their work cut out trying to top their worldwide smash-hit Moves Like Jagger but I reckon they’ve actually managed to do it with the awesome new tune Payphone. The video sees Levine channelling his best Bruce Willis as he goes from bored bank worker to all-out action hero. Complete with epic police chase and exploding cars, the only quibble you might have with the clip is that Levine’s dirty white vest just isn’t tight enough.
Remember the moody and quiffed X Factor contestant from a couple of years back who struck up a mildly erotic (at least in our heads) Bromance with Matt Cardle? That would be Aiden Grimshaw. He’s taken his time, stayed out the spotlight and clearly created music that he cares about. His debut single Is This Love is released on Sunday and it’s a downbeat, gritty and electro anthem for heartbreak. It’s cool, it’s credible and it’s raw. It’s everything that a former X Factor contestant shouldn’t release – and that’s exactly why we love it.
