Music Buzz
This week American Idol is seemingly in chaos after both J-Lo and Steven Tyler quit the judging panel to spend more time on other projects (including being a mum and a rock god respectively). After SyCo managed to secure Britney Spears for a space on The X Factor USA, all bets are off for who might get the coveted roles on Idol. If money is no option then you’d be wise to place a bet on Mariah Carey signing up, however if Britney has drained the Fox TV bank account to the extent we believe she has you’d be better off lowering your expectations. We can but hope that Nicole Scherzinger will quickly get bored on The X Factor UK and take a seat next to Randy Jackson.
Hot Music Vid – Fun – Some Nights
The boys who impressed us with their rock anthem We Are Young are back with the epic follow up Some Nights. You would be forgiven for thinking this has been lifted from The Lion King with its powerful drums and soaring chants, but this power-house of a tune goes to prove these American lads are more than a one-hit wonder. The video, set against the backdrop of a war-time love story, gives us goose bumps whenever we see it.
One To Watch – Frank Ocean
This 24-year-old from New Orleans has had his fair share of column inches over the last few weeks after he posted an intimate message on his blog revealing he’s once shared a relationship with another man. On the back of his message, the powerful elite of Rap and R 'n' B jumped to applaud his courage (including Beyonce and Jay Z). Hype aside, his debut album Channel Orange is one the best albums of the year. He’s got the soul of John Legend mixed with the attitude of Kanye – and this can only be a good thing.
