Cher Lloyd sells one million copies of her debut single in the US

Festival fans in Essex might not love Cher Lloyd, but she’s a hit in the US.

The X Factor star has sold an impressive one million copies of Want U Back, her debut solo single in the States.

Cher has thanked her fans – who she calls her brats – for the success of the song, "It's so amazing Want U Back has sold one million copies in America. My Brats rock, thank you!"

Cher has been busy winning over fans in the US travelling across the country on a radio your and meeting fans. Her hard work had paid off though, Want U Back hit the iTunes Top 10 in the US last month, and has remained there ever since.

Cher is now readying her US debut album, which is a reworked version of the UK album. Sticks & Stones is out on 2 October and will include unheard tracks and new guest vocalists including Snoop Dogg.

“It's not nice having bottles of piss chucked at you”

Last weekend, Cher Lloyd didn’t get quite the warm welcome back to the UK that she might have been hoping for. While performing at V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex music fans pleted her with bottles full of urine.

“It's hard enough being up here, but it's not nice having bottles of piss chucked at you,” she angrily told the crowd.

Are you surprised at how successful Cher has become in America?
