We should have known that cheeky chappie Robbie Williams would pick a name for his new swing album that would get us all talking.
Robbie’s second swing album – the follow-up to 2001’s Swing When You’re Winning – is called Swings Both Ways, and is made up of 50 per cent original songs and 50 per cent covers.
And the Angels star has got a bunch of his musical pals on board to give him a hand on the upcoming album.
Swings Both Ways features Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Buble, Rufus Wainwright and Olly Murs who sings with Robbie on a version of Jungle Book classic I Wanna Be Like You.
Robbie, 39, said: “I always knew I’d do another swing album and I think now is the perfect time to do it.
“The album this time is a definite ode and a loving glance towards a period on the planet that I was never invited to beacuse I wasn’t there.”
Lily said: “I was a bit nervous when we recorded it, especially when I asked him what he wanted me to do and he said, ‘Just be you’. But I’m really happy with it and think we do justice to a classic song.”
Olly, who toured with Robbie this summer, added: “I loved working with Rob on this album.
“After touring Europe with him this year it seemed only right that we record something, and I Wanna Be Like You is such a classic singalong tune.
“It’s always brilliant when you get to work with your mates!"
The album is due for release on 18 November.
