Here's a sneak peak at the best new American drama on TV since – ooh, Ugly Betty, and that was ages ago right?! Seriously, Brothers & Sisters (tonight, C4, 8.30pm) is great, with a fabulous cast including Mrs Harrison Ford aka Ally McBeal aka Calista Flockhart, the wonderful Rachel Griffiths from out of Six Feet Under and the imperious Sally Field, who infamously yelled, "you love me! you really love me!" when she won an Oscar a few years ago and proves here that she really is a great actress who deserves our love.
Best of all, it's also got a handsome young fellow in it (Dave Annable) whose character Justin is deeply troubled, AND cute Welsh wonder Matthew Rhys (who happens to appear in my book Inside Little Britain, available now from your local bookseller in glorious paperback) playing a gay chap.
It's more serious than something like Ugly Betty, but utterly watchable in that classic thirtysomething American way. And if you're too young to remember thirtysomething, all we can say is: just wait till it comes out on DVD.
