Congratulations to Ruth Jones and James Corden, the talented and funny creators and stars of the BBC3 show Gavin & Stacey which dominates this year's British Comedy Awards nominations, announced today. The series has been nominated for Best Comedy, Best New Comedy and they've both won acting nods, along with their co-stars Mathew Horne and Joanna Page. Also among the big nominees are the fabulous Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr in the Comedy Entertainment Personality category and their show The Friday Night Project gets a nod in the Comedy Entetainment Programme section. Among the big contenders omitted from the noms are Ant & Dec, who've been nominated for the past five years, and The Royle Family, which only got a much-deserved acting nomination for Liz Smith. And, although I was on the judging panel, don't blame me alone if you disagree with the results – there were loads of other industry bigwigs on the committee!
