Vanessa Feltz isn’t normally our first port of call when we’re looking for gossip, but she’s struck gold this time. She’s revealed that she was there on the fateful night that Gabriela Cheeky Girl got together with Lemsip Icepick (even though he was still with Sian Lloyd at the time). She’s spilled all the beans on the bizarre coupling on a new Sky One show called 50 Ways To Leave Your TV Lover (this Sunday, 9pm). “I have the dubious distinction of having actually been there on the night that Lembit Opik met his Cheeky Girl,” Vanessa reveals. “I was there, it was a Channel Five party and I think at the very beginning it was definitely very touch and go as to what cheek he choose – either the left cheek or the right cheek. And when one Cheeky did respond, Lembit got in there! Lembit was getting closer and closer to Cheeky, Cheeky was getting closer and closer to Lembit. They were getting nearer and nearer, nuzzling and I thought, 'Feltz to the rescue!', so I galloped in there with the artillery, and I said ‘Hi Lembit, How’s Sian? When are you getting married?’” Good old Vanessa and her big gob, eh? Unfortunately, it didn’t do much good, given that Lemsip and Gabs are engaged now. But how grim is it that he would have been happy with either Cheeky Girl?
