We thought Russell Brand was an inspired choice of host for last night’s VMAs – but over in America, some people weren’t so sure. Russell drew gasps from the audience when he made a series of very funny, but not very politically correct, jokes. “Some people, I think they're called racists, say America is not ready for a black president,” he said. “But I know America to be a forward-thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years? We were very impressed. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors.” How we lolled… but apparently Miley Cyrus and lil ol’ Britney were among the most offended of the audience members. Pah. Russell also got into an argument with singer Jordin Sparks when he took the piss out of people who don’t believe in sex before marriage. “I just want to say, it's not bad to wear a promise ring because not every guy and girl wants to be a slut, OK?” she said.
