Here at heatworld, we're still feeling pretty astounded by the sheer amount of people who complained over the Manuelgate incident, but now it seems as if it's started a trend for complaints. The latest presenter to find himself at the centre of a mounting storm of controversy is Jeremy Clarkson, who made a joke about truck drivers killing prostitutes on Sunday night's Top Gear. The presenter said to the camera, "Change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That's a lot of effort in a day." Clarkson was making reference to lorry driver Steve Wright, who was jailed earlier this year for murdering five sex workers in Ipswich. A BBC spokesman said, "This particular reference was used to comically exaggerate and make ridiculous an unfair urban myth about the world of lorry driving, and was not intended to cause offence." However, this explanation has failed to calm some people's tempers. Disgruntled viewer Cari Mitchell, of the English Collective of Prostitutes said the comment was "more serious than the Ross and Brand debacle", before stating, "I think it's a sacking offence to make light of the murder of anybody, never mind prostitute women who are vulnerable and criminalised." Clarkson's co-presenter Richard Hammond was quick to defend his pal, saying, "He was just being Jeremy. People love that." What do you think of all this?
