heatworld has traumatic childhood memories of going of the panto. Remember the humiliation of being dragged up on stage by a man with bright red cheeks, a frilly dress and a booming voice? *shudder* But perhaps we can take some comfort from the knowledge that things are just the same as they always were in the weird world of the pantomime – men are dressed as ugly women, women are dressed as handsome men, women and men are dresses as horses, and D-list celebrities are gritting their teeth at all those “Where’s your career? It’s behind you!” jokes. The First Family Entertainment national panto launch has just happened in north London – and these are some of the stars who’ll be treading the boards at many a regional theatre this festive season.
