Whatever the time of year, it seems there’s always a singing show to keep us amused – even if we do have to import them from the States to get us through out post-X Factor slump. The new series of American Idol kicked off in the US last night, and it was as OTT as ever. This particular contestant, Katrina Darrell, was the biggest talking point – she rocked up in her bikini and planted a big smacker on Ryan Seacrest… and you won’t be surprised to see that Simon seemed rather taken with her. As for the female judges? Not so much. Speaking of which, is it just us or is the new judge lady (Kara DioGuardi) just a leeeetle bit annoying? And what is it with Simon bringing in glamorous ladies to shake up established judging panels? Tsk, he's a naughty one...
