BB host Davina McCall has opened up about her early life and her difficult relationship with her mother. It has often been reported that Davina and her mum fell out and that the presenter didn't feel loved – but this isn't the whole truth. Davina explains, "My mum did really love me – she just wasn't brilliant at being a mum." Davina's parents divorced when she was just four and she went to live with her grandparents Pippa and Mickey, whom she adored. She still saw both her parents, and moved in with her dad and his new wife in London when she was 12, describing it as "an explosion of independence". Davina's relationship with her mum, who had problems with alcohol throughout her life, was always up and down, but it was when her mum sold some private photos to the newspapers that the trust they'd built up was lost. "She'd sold a story," Davina remembers sadly. "Even after we'd built all those bridges and how amazing it had been. She'd given them our honeymoon snaps and everything." Davina admits she was "floored" by her mum's actions, but the pair did stay in touch via letters over the years. "I know she didn't do it out of malice," explains Davina, "But I found it quite hard to trust her." Davina's mum passed away in 2008. To read our full interview with Davina, simply click here.
