Ryan talks about Farrah
Ryan O'Neal has spoken publicly for the first time since the recent death of his long-term love Farrah Fawcett – and it's heartbreaking stuff. Talking about the beautiful actress' final moments, Ryan remembers, "I just lay by her side. She wouldn't...move on. She wouldn't pass. She just looked at us with a slight smile, and then all the machines flat lined. She was gone." Farrah's 24-year-old son Redmond did not get to say goodbye to his mum as he was in jail at the time of her death, but dad Ryan says the wayward young man made a promise to Farrah to sort out his life during one final phone call. "I think it was about regret," says Ryan. "And the horror of not being able to see her again, and the promise of a good life – one she would be proud of. He has a wonderful plan in mind to restore order in his life." Talking about how he feels now, Ryan says sadly, "I'm using what she taught me to survive, to go on. I have launched into this massive job of answering the mail that has come in for her over the last few weeks. That's my life now."
