ITV have been fined for animal cruelty following the death of a domesticated rat during I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! The charge was initially brought against chef Gino D'Acampo and Stuart Manning, the two campers who killed and cooked the poor creature, but they were changed when the ITV production crew admitted to letting the rat loose in camp and giving the pair permission to kill it. A Sydney court fined ITV £1,660 after hearing that the helpless rat took 90 seconds to die and had suffered unnecessary pain after being stabbed with a knife. The channel were also ordered to pay costs amounting to a further £1,390. Today a spokesman said, "ITV has apologised for the mistake which led to the incident. The production was unaware that killing a rat could be an offence, criminal or otherwise." They have promised it will never happen again. Blub. That rat's cute little face is making us sad all over again.
