So Skins – or at least the current incarnation of it – is almost over. The youthful faces of Effy, Freddie and Pandora are now consigned to the void. Shame. They didn’t go out without a final blaze of controversy however – the penultimate episode appears to have ruffled a few feathers. [SPOILER ALERT (even though you should have seen it by now)] Viewers of last week’s programme saw Luke Pasqualino’s character Freddie bludgeoned to death by a psychotic, baseball-bat-wielding counsellor. E4 received complaints from fans of the show who were turned off by the violence. “There was no need to do that to Freddie,” commented one. “You've definitely lost your fans,” Mental health charity Young Minds even claimed that the storyline “could stop young people getting help.” Meanwhile Kathryn Prescott, the 18-year-old actress who played Emily Fitch, said that she was sad to be leaving the show. “It was so sad finishing filming for Skins because it's been so much a part of my life for the last two years,” she admitted. “"It was really cool filming for two years with everyone and I'm really going to miss all of the cast and crew.” Bring on the next generation of bum-fluff wearing hoodlums.
