OMG! Someone's shrunk the Backstreet Boys!

Posted by 30 April 2010 12:42

Shrunk them, put them in cute little suits and shoved them up on the Britain’s Got Talent stage. OK, so boyband Connected (average age of 14) aren’t really the Backstreet Boys – but we imagine a number of young girls will still be very excited by them. Does your heart melt when you watch this clip, or are you busy vomming into your prawn sandwich as we type?

Really enjoyed these kids and as usual Simon is bob-on with his comments and will just work his magic on them. Let's hope the boys families don't sell their souls completely though.

Westlife, Boyzone, Take That, watch out you may just face very stiff competition in the years to come if Saturday night in Manchester on the latest Britain's Got Talent trail has anything to do with it. I was amazed by this collection of cheeky 13 to 15 year olds with a surprising degree of charisma for such youngsters. Harmonies were brilliant and they can all sing in tune. Simon was at his most enigmatic, refusing to endorse them with the enthuiasm shown by Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan. One of the greatest examples of reverse selling I have ever witnessed from Simon. Even down to the grudging yes that he gave them at the end. Claiming that perhaps they could do with a little help with their futures. Any one who has studied Simon over the years in Pop Idol, X Factor and BGT knows by now that he is one clever guy who can play poker with the best of them. He is silently thrilled at finding what could well be, with the right material, the next great boyband to hit the streets. Yet again Simon has displayed the Midas touch which has made him such a force in entertainment both sides of the Atlantic. Well overdue for some official recognition, a knighthood at least.
