Most people celebrate an awards win with a glass of something fizzy – not This Morning chef Gino D’Acampo. The outgoing cook promised This Morning viewers back in September that should the show win the National Television Award for Most Popular Topical Magazine Programme that he’d cook naked.
Last night This Morning did indeed win, and today Gino kept to his word, leading to bare bum cheeks and lots of banter in the studio...
Phillip: “You may remember way back in September that a certain Italian chef said this - [on VT: Gino: "If we win the National Television Award I promise you that I will be cooking fully naked on the show!"]
Holly: "Well stand by because we are keeping him to it - that doesn't seem a problem does it Gino?!"
Gino: "Well you know, it was one of those things you say just to liven up the situation - and thought that we'd never win! And now I'm stuck... so you're going to have to be very nice with me today...and I'm trying to work it out how we do this without um..."
Phillip: "Well let me tell you what we've done, and to help Gino a little bit we've raised the counter..."
Gino: "But I'm realising that I can jump!"
Holly: "Oh my goodness is this actually happening?!"
Moments before Gino began cooking Phil made a startling revelation,
"He's just dropped a knife and picked it up - I'm telling you its not a pretty sight! We've had some big stars in this studio but its never been fuller than this moment right now!"
To which Gino hit back, "We can do this very professionally, we are grown up people. I made a promise and I'm going to keep it, but we concentrate on the cooking!"
