Ok, so we can all say we knew since C4 gave BB the boot back in the summer, but we didn’t actually know anything for sure until this evening when news arrived that Channel Five has signed a deal with programme makers Endemol to air Big Brother later this year. After 11 series, spanning over a decade, on Channel 4 the reality show will definitely make the move over to Channel Five.
According to The Guardian, it is a five year deal which includes Celebrity Big Brother as well as the normal show. Celebrity Big Brother is scheduled to kick off in August, with Big Brother following in September. That is A LOT of Big Brother, even for the most dedicated of viewers (aka us).
However, it seems that Big Brother’s Big Mouth or Little Brother will not be making a return. Also missing from the re-vamped show – as previously thought, is Davina McCall who will NOT be hosting. But rumours are already surfacing who might get the job. Former Celeb BB star Vanessa Feltz, winner of Ultimate Big Brother Brian Dowling,Jeff Brazier and Emma Willis, who hosted Big Brother’s Little Brother last summer are the early favourites. ‘Big Brother house, this is Vanessa Feltz, please do not swear’… we like to think not.
It has already been amazingly suggested that Charlie Sheen is at the top of producer’s wish list for the Celebrity series. We realllllly pray this is true. Plus, considering Charlie seems to find it rather difficult to say no to just about anything at the moment, the producers may just get their wish! But we fear he might just be in it for the #winning (!). Other celebs rumoured to be interested include TOWIE’s Amy Childs, and bizarrely Mohammed al-Fayed (now he’s got rid of Harrods, he probably has more spare time on his hands).
Now how about a quick reminder of why we love BB:
