Patsy Palmer will return to EastEnders, if the USA doesn't want her

Albert Square is about to get a lot more quiet if Patsy Palmer doesn't make a return as loudmouth Bianca Butcher. The TV actress who has played the feisty character on off for 18 years is in talks to star in a US drama.

Palmer, who has been on maternity leave since december 2010, had previously claimed she would return to the soap "when the time is right" but now says she will return to the square if she doesn't get the US gig.

She told the News of the World: "I've got a meeting but I'm sure I won't get the job. When you see me back on EastEnders you'll know I didn't!

"Instead of Hollywood, chances are I'll end up back in Borehamwood."

The Curse Of EastEnders?

The red head is jumping on the 'ex-ender bandwagon' to make it across the pond but will she inherit the 'eastend curse' or make it where the likes of Michelle Ryan and Martine McCutcheon and have failed to.

Sid Owen, who plays Patsy's onscreen husband Ricky Butcher, is also said to be taking time out to concentrate on charity work.

Only time will tell if we ever hear that famous catch-phrase of hers "Rickaaay!!!"

Sir Ian McKellen was in Corrie for a while. I have thought of a couple of people who started off in UK soaps - Joanna Lumley was in Corrie early on as a girlfriend of Ken's and Jude Law was in a soap called The Family (I think).

Well, Robert Kazinsky (Sean Slater from 'Enders) is going to be in 'The Hobbit' with Sir Ian McKellen. That ain't too bad.

Simon Cowell used to be in Coronation Street, he played Emily Bishop's wayward Grandson, Norman Bishop. He was very good, though he never got the Northern accent quite right.
